Table of Contents:

If you find yourself doing all the things to grow your business but not signing up clients, you may have one of these leaks in your business.

Like most entrepreneurs, you want to hit your income goals as quickly and efficiently as possible. But did you know there are small business leaks that can sabotage you when it comes to making a profit?

Don’t let yourself fall victim to these common missteps – find out the top overlooked leaks that keep businesses from reaching their desired level of success and how to tackle them head-on!

(Be sure to listen to this episode of the Aligned Business Woman when I talk about my BIGGEST business mistakes.)

→ Your offer is an energy leak.

The first leak is an ineffective offer. This can be caused by not clearly defining who your ideal client is or what problem you solve for them. When you’re marketing the wrong offer, you can waste a lot of time, energy and money when it doesn’t sell.

Also when validating your offer: do a gut check. You want to make sure you’re lit up to deliver this offer as much as your audience is excited to buy.

What happens if you’re not excited about the offer? You project your insecurities and uncertainty onto your audience so your offer doesn’t sell. (Which can send you down a spiral of self-doubt and impostor syndrome.)

If you’re just starting out and don’t have a validated offer, get super clear on the problems you’re able to help a specific type of person solve and how delivering that transformation fits into the lifestyle you wish to live.

→ Your marketing is a time, money, and/or energy leak.

Many coaches, consultants, and course creators fail to create an effective marketing strategy because they don't know where to start or they don't have the time to dedicate to creating one.

There are 3 mistakes I see coaches, consultants, and course creators making—

  • they spend too much time trying to learn how to make the perfect content but don’t post consistently,

  • they hide behind their content but never have sales conversations, and/or

  • they don’t have a clear marketing strategy or message. (The last one can confuse their audience and themselves.)

All of these can drain you of time, money, and energy.

  • Missed opportunities to sign a client

  • Spending marketing dollars without a clear plan

  • Exhausting and discouraging you which causes stress that affects your decision-making

The key here is consistency—posting regularly on social media platforms with quality content will help build trust with potential customers and showcase what makes your product/service unique compared to competitors. Additionally, you’ll be able to receive feedback on the content you are posting to see what works and what doesn’t.

→ The next business leak that keeps you from hitting your income goal is your conversion strategy.

Finally, if you're struggling to convert leads into paying clients, then chances are good that there's a conversion leak in play as well. One way to get around this issue is by creating a conversion strategy specifically tailored towards converting leads who've already expressed interest in working with you or buying from you.

Conversion strategies are often overlooked when it comes to making money online. Having a system in place that allows you to convert leads into paying clients is essential for any successful business.

To do this effectively, focus on creating content that speaks directly to those leads and efficiently moves them down the funnel toward becoming clients. You can use tools like email automation and social media ads to help automate this process so that all of your efforts don’t go to waste due to a lack of follow-up or attention to prospective leads.

Inside the Profitable CEO Accelerator, I show members how to find hot leads within their audience so that they can easily start conversations through a unique retargeting strategy I formulated.

Also remember that without a well-thought-out conversion strategy, potential clients may never actually convert into buyers because there's no clear call-to-action (CTA).

To recap:

  • A poor or non-existent conversion strategy can lead to some major time and energy leaks.

  • Leaks in your conversion strategy can be due to unclear or poorly structured marketing, tech errors, and/or inconsistency in asking for the sale.

  • Do a funnel audit to make sure your tech is working and if you’re still not making sales or getting leads, then revisit your offer and marketing message. You want to make sure you’re clear on your offer and who its for so you can effectively market your offer.

→ You did a gut check and you have eager buyers, now what? It’s time to create your sales action plan.

As a female entrepreneur, coach, consultant, or course creator it's important to identify any potential leaks in order for you to reach your income goals. Energy leaks such as an ineffective offer, inefficient marketing strategies, and lack of conversion strategies can keep you from reaching success with your business venture if left unchecked.

By taking time to assess each area of your business holistically and making adjustments where needed - such as improving upon existing offers or creating more effective messaging -you will be able to set yourself up for success!
